Will you tell anyone?

If you contact local alcohol and drug services no-one from outside will know unless:

  • you are at risk of or being hurt by someone;
  • you are thinking of hurting yourself or you want to die ;
  • you are thinking of hurting someone else; or
  • you want us to tell someone.

Services will talk about your situation in their own meetings, and decide the best person to work with you, and what is the best thing to do for you.  This protects you and the worker, and makes sure you get the best possible service.

With your permission, we can talk to other agencies, for example we could call your GP to get you a prescription to help you give up smoking.

If a worker has to tell someone outside the team, they will always try to tell you first and get your permission. The person they tell would not necessarily be your parents, it might be their manager or another agency.
