My relationships

There are several ways drink and drugs can affect your relationships with other people.  If you value your relationships, make sure your relationship with drink or drugs doesn't get in the way.

Being drunk, stoned and out of control is not an attractive look, and gradually people lose respect for those that are like that.  If it goes on, friends and family begin to stay away and the main relationship is the one with the drink or drugs.

  • Drink and drugs can make it harder to control yourself, so you might get into arguments and fights more easily, and you might get off with someone you didn't mean to.
  • Drink and drugs can make it harder for you to stick to what you believe in, so you might take more risks, or do stuff you think is wrong.
  • Drink and drugs can make it harder to be strong, so you might not be able to say 'no' when people want you to do something wrong or dangerous, or want to get off with you.
  • If you're having sex, it 's much harder to protect yourselves from pregnancy and infections if you've been drinking or taking drugs.  Drink and drugs can also affect your sexual performance - guys can have trouble getting or staying hard, girls and guys can just lose interest, or not be able to get enough.
  • Long term drinking and drug use can affect your ability to have children.
