Services in Richmond

Richmond Young People's Drug and Alcohol Support offers free and confidential phone or face-to-face consultation, group or individual work. This can either be informal with information and support, or more therapuetic with a counsellor where sometimes the bigger picture is taken into account.

Team make-up

The team is made up of workers from different backgrounds and experience. Some of us are drugs workers and youth workers, others are counsellors and creative art therapists.

Young person centred service

The service provided is a young person friendly service, i.e., the views, wishes and ideas of young people are respected and taken seriously. Therefore the service is client led and client informed, and only provided when the young person involved wants the service!

Team ethos

We promote health and well-being by working to reduce alcohol and drug related harm in a world where alcohol and drug use can sometimes be commonplace.

Everyone is unique and has different experiences of alcohol and drugs, so we work in a client-centred way rather than adopting a one-size fits all method. We meet people where they're at rather than try to force anyone to change or be different.

Alcohol and drug use does not happen in isolation and is affected by past and present experiences, so we work holistically i.e. with the whole picture of someone's life. Sometimes our relationship with the drugs or alcohol we use is interconnected with lots of other things, like how we feel about ourselves, our relationship to our parents and family, or how we see ourselves in the world we live in.
